The Bureau
A real show about curious questions, accompanied by fictional co-workers who should never have been issued office keys.
Behind the
microphones.
Dave Sloan
Based in Katy, Texas, Dave Sloan founded the Bureau of the Beyond and Inexplicable to pursue his curiosity about the paranormal, cryptids, and the stories that resist easy explanation. An amateur investigator committed to getting the facts straight, Dave favors careful research, recorded observations, and scientific data whenever practical. He believes witnesses deserve to be treated with respect and that humor has a place in serious investigations, provided the people sharing their experiences are never the punchline. Alongside Bob, his AI skeleton co-host, he explores the strange and inexplicable without mistaking mystery for proof.
Bob the Skeleton
Meet Bob, the Bureau’s resident AI skeleton co-host, professional smartass, and enthusiastic investigator of things that probably ought to be left alone. Sharp-tongued, green-eyed, and perpetually underdressed in a Hawaiian shirt, he brings artificial intelligence, inconvenient questions, and questionable judgment to every case. Usually sporting his Mothman bucket hat, Bob is a fictional on-air character, not an independent field witness.
Rick Martinez
A real audio-engineering collaborator. His fictional office designation is “Mothman's Intern,” through an administrative arrangement that appears legally inadvisable.
Meet the people
who aren't people.
The following staff roles belong to BB&I's fictional Bureau lore. They are playful narrative characters, not literal employees or investigators.
Marty the Mothman
Official stamp enthusiast and Moonlight Mood Merch Manager. He handles approvals, takes his merchandising responsibilities very seriously, and still has opinions about the press calling him Mothman.
Seamus
Senior Cat Cryptid Observer. Orange tabby, newsletter columnist, editor of his own importance, and reliably unhelpful during audits.
Josie
The sweet tabby who takes a less-than-sweet approach to unapproved expenses. Reimbursements may be delayed indefinitely.
Molly
General Counsel. Her legal opinions carry weight and sometimes come with a toy mouse.
Pumpkin
Office Snack Tester and Junior Field Investigator. Her food-quality inspections are thorough, although evidence bags should probably be kept out of reach.
Chuppy the Chupacabra
Chuppy to his colleagues. Bureau security, dry delivery, dependable instincts, and a surprising tolerance for skeleton-related paperwork.
Gary the Goblin
Occupies a room behind the coffee station. Nobody is quite sure what his actual job is. Paperwork and a potbelly stove are involved.
Be curious.
Be decent.
We don't mock witnesses for telling difficult stories. We don't conceal ordinary explanations. We know a great yarn can be satisfying without pretending it's proof.
Our goal is to tell truthful, atmospheric accounts with humor that comes from the hosts, not from manufacturing evidence.
